Sin?  What is it?  Or, what should we change that may please God, save lives, save souls, and heal our land?

We embark on a "moral" fight against the evil of terrorism but is God with us?  Maybe.  Maybe not.

It isn't that the terrorists don't deserve the worst.  Are we really in a position to lead a "moral" battle?  If not, will God really be with us?  Can we truly deliver justice with Almighty God, maker of Heaven and Earth, by our side?

Mr. Bush, you have stood with great strength and your prayers are needed.   You have helped unite a country who is in the need of leadership.  Your resolve is palpable.  Your empathy helps all of us.  Your judgment by choosing an all-star team of seasoned individuals who understand military strategy and have level heads is appreciated by all, despite their shortcomings in other affairs.

Calling for prayer is essential, as you have done.  It is improper to suggest that others waste their time praying to a god who is no more a god than I am.   By doing such a politically correct thing, you validate their religion that is taking them to hell.  As much as this is hard to say, it is true, according to scripture.  Why mislead anyone that way?  Isn't their souls more important?   Pray to your God, let the others do what they want to do on their own time.

Acts 4: 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Mr. President, we need more help.  Our soldiers' and more citizens' lives are at stake.  We must endeavor to clean out our personal and national sins in order for yours and our prayers to be heard by Almighty God, who our country claims.   This principle is found throughout the scriptures.

We look at our nation and see some government supported evil.  Abortion has killed orders of magnitude higher than those recently murdered by despicable terrorists.

Our President, with Rev. Falwell, Pat Robertson and other church 'leaders'' approval, recently made embryonic stem cell research possible with federally supported funds.  Mr. Bush, rescind that policy to invite God's favor on our war effort!

Is it a coincidence that the World Trade Center horror follows the church's failure?  Could God be saying 'I have had enough' and 'I will therefore let down my shield' that has protected us for so long?  It isn't so much that President Bush made the wrong decision, more importantly, many church leaders failed God by acclimating to a policy violating God's direction.  They taught Mr. Bush that it was all right with God.  Where is the outcry from other church leaders?  Shouldn't they have been standing for God and not political gain?

1 Corinthians 5:12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church ? Are you not to judge those inside?

Sure there are many sinners in this land.  It is imperative that the church becomes the true salt and light.  The following verse implies that it is the church  that needs to be pure for God's healing.  Our land is blessed by Almighty God when the church is healthy.    ("my people"=?the Christian 'elect')

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people , who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Other national sins?  Since we are a "Christian nation", we are held to a higher moral standard.  Policies and legislation that offends God's Biblical direction are an offense to Him and will cause Him to turn His back on our prayers.  Especially in a time of need, like the present, we need all of the help God will give us to save lives of our families and friends.  We must stop offending God.

Sure policies for homosexual rights are wrong.  So is 'no fault divorce' policies.  We must humble ourselves before the offended power and repent, or face the consequences.  The church must not throw stones at others when we do what is possibly equally offensive to our Lord!

What about other personal sins?  Divorce is as rampant in the 'church' as outside.  God hates divorce.  "Committing adultery"   had the same penalty in the Old Testament as homosexuality.  How many who believe they are saved may not be because of the poor direction of their church 'leaders'?

How many of the 'church' purchase pornographic materials and cable channels that delight in what is offensive to God?  How many really care?  Is it not a sin to cause others to sin?  When pornography is filmed, isn't it sin between the actors and actresses?  Don't most pornographers and subjects performing hedonistic acts that, in themselves, are sin- don't they do it for your money that you had control over?  You then are part of the problem, causing them to sin.

Luke 17:1 Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. 2 It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin . 3 So watch yourselves.

Our love of pleasure and money at the expense of Godly values is central to understanding why the terrorists hit the World Trade Center.   They hurt us where 'our American values' were portrayed the best.  It wasn't a mega-church that these religious zealot evildoers were after.  Even they could see our god.  God will have no other gods before Him.

It wasn't too long ago most businesses were closed on Sunday (God's Sabbath).  Now, even the Christians have willingly participated when God directed us to do otherwise.  It isn't them, it is us.

Stock market plunges are simply another wake up call from God as we see that those things we were trusting in were not as certain as we would like.  God will call attention to Himself through means like this, in love, such that we may repent.

These are not meant to be seen as 'holier than thou' diatribes.  These are words of life that only comes from study of the scriptures, not diluting the plain truth in plain words.

First, check out the Ten Commandments.  Stay in the scriptures to further become the way God wants you to be.  Pray for His guidance and understand all we really have comes from Him.  We all need to fall on our knees and humble ourselves before His Greatness.

Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me . 4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me , 6 but showing love to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments. 7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. 8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. 12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. 13 "You shall not murder. 14 "You shall not commit adultery. 15 "You shall not steal. 16 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. 17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

Sin is defined in the scriptures.  Read them.

We know that at some time, all knees will bow before Him.  Isn't it better now than later?  Think of the lives that may be saved by our confessions, humility and change.

In past wars, we know God was with us as our Christian nation made great efforts to maintain a relationship with Him.  Our presidents used to publicly pray to Almighty God.  Not a moment of silence.

Today the historically incorrect 'separation of church and state' has done all it could to remove God from schools, etc.  Television, NPR, and other media outlets finally broadcast the Lord's Prayer and the great hymn "A Mighty Fortress is our God".  God's purpose to call us back began.   How many more body bags are we going to see before God's will is done?  People in the US do unthinkable things, even at times of trouble as they have no moral anchor, none of God's love.

After Pearl Harbor was attacked at the beginning of WWII, was there as much deceit preying on the victims' families as there is in New York City today?  It would have been virtually unheard of that victims' apartments were ransacked, credit cards stolen, people making false claims, etc.  Today, we have learned to expect this.

Thank God for the great outpouring of help from others.  We do have the capability to return to Him.  Do we really display the right qualities to have God on our side in this moral battle?

Sure the enemy is bad, but they don't offend the one true God by using His name while embracing evil.  They will neither be helped nor hurt by their god.  We, on the other hand, will be helped or punished by God Almighty.  Which will we choose?  We have already lost some freedom.

'God is not only our greatest hope, He is also our greatest threat'   - Adrian Rogers

Let us humble ourselves, repent, learn from the scriptures what He expects and wants, and then we should trust Him with the results of this new war.  It is still true-

Duty is ours; results are God's.
                                           John Quincy Adams

If you are not saved and you don't know that you will spend eternity with God in heaven, please write for information.   In the meantime you can become saved right now.  Pray for your sins in humble repentance and accept Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation.  That is it.   If you did this then you received salvation.  Then follow His Biblical directions.

John 14: 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me . He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." 22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?" 23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me , he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me .

Phillipians 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling , 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Go to a Bible believing church, one that doesn't dilute the plain truth of the verses (fairly hard to find these days).  Salvation is offered to all.  It is not complicated.

We need to understand that we are sinners in need of God's salvation.   We need to confess our sins to God.  We need to accept Jesus Christ as our only means for salvation.  We need to strive to know God better and to follow His Word's direction.

The first step is easy.  Simple faith in Christ.  The rest is an evergoing struggle.  It is worth it.  God Bless your decision.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
