Homosexuality, Adultery, and Divorce

We are all at fault!  This is not a chance to 'gay bash'.  Why should anyone hate an individual condemned by God and needing repentance or face eternal damnation?  Didn't God condemn adultery as well, with similar penalties?

1 Corinthians 6:7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers. 9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Homosexual individuals need repentance as well as the rest of us.  Clearly God will destroy the people who allow rampant sin to become normal, as in Sodom and Gomorrah.  The cities had only one family worthy of rescue.  Is there anyone who deserves rescue now?  Not simply those who practice such things God considers a sin, but those of us who fail to stand against it are in danger.

Leviticus 18:22 Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

1Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Leviticus 20:10 "`If a man commits adultery with another man's wife--with the wife of his neighbor-- both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.

Leviticus 20:13 "`If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Obviously God cared about heterosexual adultery similarly to homosexual practice.   Do we want His judgement to fall on our heads for allowing these practices to be rampant in our country?  Divorce in the heterosexual community (often due to adultery) is accepted by us although God will not accept it.

Don't let anyone fool you.  The HIV/AIDS problem has become worse due to 'tolerance' in the name of freedom.  Normal epidemiologic and public health practices were tossed out in the name of 'personal freedom', even though HIV was known to be uniformly fatal.  Universal mortality may not be the case today, but an infected person's longer life allows those who do not care about others to spread the disease to a greater extent.  It began in the gay community in America and now affects all of us.  Is this a form of God's judgement or simply a warning we should heed?  Do not dismiss this truth.  We must repent.

Malachi 2:16 "I hate divorce ," says the LORD God of Israel, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment," says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith. 17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. "How have we wearied him?" you ask. By saying, "All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them" or "Where is the God of justice?"

Matthew 19:9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."

Why should we be concerned our nation must end the rampant divorce rate?

  • A larger percentage of criminals have come from 'broken homes'.  We each can become a victim.  This is not just a 'moral issue' but falls into political concerns as our justice system is back-logged, criminals are let back on the street, welfare tries to pick up the financial pieces of single parent homes, supported by tax dollars, and children have poor role models, allowing them to continue similar practices.
  • God will not be mocked.  When we say we are His people we must act that way or He will punish us for making Him look bad.
  • "The number of children involved in divorces and annulments stood at 6.3 per 1,000 children under 18 years of age in 1950, and 7.2 in 1960. By 1970 it had increased to 12.5; by 1975, 16.7; by 1980, the rate stood at 17.3, a 175 percent increase from 1950. Since in 1972, one million American children every year have seen their parents divorce."
