This is most likely the most important moral issue we need
adherence to by our elected representatives.
The lack of honesty by politicians has helped corrupt our nation. We need
absolute truth, which does exist. The Word of God, the Holy Bible is our "gold
standard". Anything else without this foundation is on shaky ground.
Why? We see government taking what was once called murder and changing that to
"choice".
We see reasons we bomb various places, killing other people, with time, as lies.
We have revelations regarding Waco coming out now where our government has been lying for
years regarding their role in the deaths of ~90 people, including many children.
The Branch Dividians may have been paranoid (or somewhat loony) but they had not waged a
war against us and imposed no threat to the rest of us. This is why it is illegal
for our troops to be used against civilians. Without truth, who would know?
It is important whether a criminal actually committed a crime. For his sake (how
else will he repent and change?) and our sake.
"Spin" is a lie, not an attribute.
It is vitally important whether we are at risk for Chinese nuclear threats and who
allowed their access. The lies and blaming others without taking responsibility is
how we get into this compromising mess. In a few years will we be eliminated by this
mistake?
It matters if Y2K was a real threat to each of us or not. How would we know if we
should prepare or not? The problem is we cannot trust the lying government.
Many wasted hard earned money trying to hedge their bets, something that would have not
been worthwhile. How could they know? Lies hurt.
The lies about safe sex is one reason our country is increasing numbers with HIV
positivity. The lies amongst sexual 'partners' are other causes.
Our lying president leads the way. To where? Unfortunately we will find out
with time.
Absolute truth exists. O.J. either killed
them or he did not.
Dr. Adrian Rogers made an excellent point. You can make a sundial show any time
you would like with a flashlight. That does not make that time correct. Lies
injure.
God (Christ) is "The Truth". That is the anchor
we need. Truth is similar to the analogy Christ made when He said
that all of the Ten Commandments were wrapped up in a single commandment, love your
neighbor as yourself.
Truth is the anchor. Every decision made is based on what is believed. Good
decisions are based on correct beliefs, poor ones stem from lies. The first sin of
eating of the fruit was based on the lie that 'you will not die and you will be like
God'.
Truth is all-encompassing. If it were not for Satan's lies, we would know the
truth as well. If we ignore truth, we will have consequences that we will regret.
Only candidates that realize this are worth a vote.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's
invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being
understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21 For although they
knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking
became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise
, they became fools
Truth is critical. It affects each of our lives intimately and
collectively as a nation. We need leaders who adhere to this view. Truth
supercedes other issues as it affects all other issues.
Solomon (the wisest man who ever will live), wrote: Ecclesiastes
9:12 Moreover, no man knows when his hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net, or
birds are taken in a snare, so men are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon
them.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 Now all has been heard; here is the
conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty]
of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
As incredible as it may seem, is a lack of "truth", the basis of all sin?
Once things are distilled to the central cause of sin, lack of truth is always at
the core.
First, Christ (God) designates the name "Truth" to Himself.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through me.
1John 5:6 This is the one who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ. He did not
come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth .
Psalms 31:5 Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth .
Second, Satan lacks truth and believed he was as great as God (a lie). Satan
first deceived Adam and Eve, telling them that to eat of the fruit will make them like
God, the first sin.
It appears that all sin stems from lies (or the rejection of truth)! The first
question is - is there a God and is He in charge? The abortion issue depends on if
the developing fetus is a human (true or false), with rights derived from God?
Similarly, essentially all
moral issues depend on truth for the right conclusion. These are often legislated by
government.
As an interesting parallel, consider the following scripture-
Matthew 22: 37 Jesus replied: "` Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest
commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ` Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
When tested by the Pharisees about which of the Ten Commandments is most important,
Christ answered the above. This parallels the value of "truth". All
righteousness hangs on truth.
Without truth, sin exists. With truth, sin is destroyed.
