Short Synopsis-

First, align your thoughts with God's inerrant word.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Psalms 20:7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God .

Psalms 31:14 But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God."

Deuteronomy 11:13 So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today--to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul-- 14 then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil. 15 I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied. 16 Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them. 17 Then the LORD's anger will burn against you, and he will shut the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land the LORD is giving you.

1Samuel 12:24 But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart ; consider what great things he has done for you.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

Isaiah 55:8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways ," declares the LORD. 9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Jeremiah 16:17 My eyes are on all their ways ; they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes.

Proverbs 20:24 A man's steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way ?

Proverbs 14:2 He whose walk is upright fears the LORD, but he whose ways are devious despises him.

Proverbs 16:2 All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD.

Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

John 12:48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day.

Ephesians 4:25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Romans 14:12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God .

Exodus 23:19 "Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God .

Ezekial 33:8 When I say to the wicked, `O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. 9 But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself. 10 "Son of man, say to the house of Israel, `This is what you are saying: "Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live ?" ' 11 Say to them, `As surely as I live , declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live . Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?'

Now, we see that:

  • God wants to have nothing placed ahead of Him and His word.
  • His ways are not our ways, His are better.
  • If we, as Christians, plan to trust Him for eternal life, why can't we trust Him for the results of an election, despite the common, compromising reasoning many well-meaning Christians have today.
  • Christians cannot compromise on the values God cares about and still please Him.  Don't we want to please those we love?

For example, politics today.

God expects moral issues to be first from those who call themselves Christian.  In the 1996 presidential election there were:

Clinton (proudly stood for immorality-partial birth abortion, etc.),

Dole (morally indifferent in policy), (the Republican leadership shut out Alan Keyes and shoved Dole at us)

Perot, Libertarian, and sundry other candidates (who divorced themselves from moral issues),

Howard Phillips ("didn't stand a chance",  "wasted vote"  BUT the number one issue was to end legalized abortion!! - U.S. Taxpayer's Party- now called the Constitution Party)

As a Christian, our first goal is to please God and stand firm for His values.  Clinton, Perot, Libertarians, etc. were all on the wrong side.  If we truly do put our faith and trust in Almighty God, we could not choose Dole over Phillips (for reasons outlined in the long text).

But, we didn't want Clinton and the evil that would (and did) bring.  Those Christians who believe in the principles above and voted for Dole "wasted their vote!"   (The reasoning will follow below.)  Those that voted for Phillips did not.

For one thing, a vote for Dole was a vote for 'business as usual' in the Republican Party and so now we have the Republican leadership shoving G.W. Bush down our throats as a morally compromising candidate (will not have a 'litmus test' of abortion for judge appointments and is willing to run with a 'pro-choice' VP running mate-Colin Powell).  Our votes are being counted again as a compromise.

The vote for Phillips also lost to Clinton (no worse than a vote for Dole from that standpoint).  The vote for Phillips was a vote against 'business as usual' and FOR the moral issues being most important, as God wants.   Results?

  • If the Christians had not erroneously compromised with Dole,  a sizeable number would have stood firm, Phillips may have won.  If not, there are enough Christians out there to take a sizeable chunk out of both the Republicans and the Democrats, etc., such that 4 years later (now) we would have more interest by the party elite's to put someone up as the frontrunner who does stand for moral issues first.  It may be Bush, but it would not be a relatively wimpy Bush who is lukewarm from God's values standpoint.
  • If nothing else, when we meet God, He will be pleased and we would not be ashamed as to why we didn't trust Him.
  • If we trust Him and things don't seem to work out, we were probably wrong and they worked out fine (from an eternal perspective).
  • John Quincy Adams fighting slavery gag rules wasn't supposed to win, but to him - it was his duty.  He won.  Judge Roy Moore in Alabama won his fight (that was a no-win situation) against the ACLU regarding placing the Ten Commandments in his courtroom.  All along the way, these men had chances to compromise but refused.
  • Our goal is not to win.  Our goal is to run the race with diligence, trusting in God with every step and seeing where that leads.  God will bless us for this trust and effort.  God's promises will suffice.
  • Martyrs die for minimal cause (such as simply a verbal denial of Christ would save them).  Today, Americans have sold out too cheaply.   This has eternal consequences.

BUT WAIT!

As true as that was in the general election in 1996, we are not there yet!  NOW IS THE TIME TO VOTE ONLY FOR A CANDIDATE WHO WILL, IN FRONT OF ANY AND ALL CROWDS, CALL FOR MORAL VALUES FIRST!!    [ Alan Keyes is foremost in this way. ] (too late for him) Howard Phillips is similar and will be on the November ballot.  Pat Buchanan is pro-life but puts NAFTA and other issues ahead of abortion.   Check out 2000 election and 'as things arise' for current information.

Should ending legalized abortion come first? (dilatation and extraction - partial birth abortion is murder and is reminiscent of what came out of the Nazi concentration camps).  Could there be a more important issue?    These babies, if allowed to be born would be completely viable.

[Make a stand with Keyes in the Republican Party to help save it.  Votes for him are votes for the moral issues first. ] Since we failed there, we have Howard Phillips to help again with the 'third party' route.  Buchanan has the right values but puts other things ahead of the moral issues, slightly better than Bush (refuses litmus tests).

Guess what!   James Dobson voted for Howard Phillips last time after the Republicans sold the moral issues out and tried to silence Alan Keyes.

Pray.  Stand firm.  Trust God.  Tell others.

In the 1998 elections, 38% of eligible voters actually voted.

In America, 84% of the people claim to be Christians.

(it is possible to win, but each of us must stand firm and motivate others to vote and vote correctly)

This page merely gives conclusions of walking with God, from the political standpoint.  The rest of the website has supporting information for the conclusions above.  Although politics is discussed and is an important issue now, politics are never most important.  It is merely a vehicle to show where we Christians have erred and how we can fix our mistakes.  Critically, it is a test that God can use to see where our hearts and our trust is.  Most important is each of our own, personal, walk with God.  (See Christian Walk).  Christ is coming soon.  Are we ready??  God will open the door to whoever knocks.  May God Bless You.  If there are any questions, comments, etc., please email
