to indicate Christian's non-acceptance of this moral relativism,
(therefore in 2000 we are given a G.W. Bush who refuses litmus tests and cares more about the economic gain accompanying trade relations with China than persecution)

***  (note that a losing vote for Dole was equal to a losing vote for Phillips in this line)

This is considered 'pseudoquantitative' as the numbers are simply a tool and really do not reflect the relative importance of the values.  One thing is for certain, though, standing firm for God's values is greater than winning an election with compromise.

Suppose Dole won and I voted for Phillips-- the results would still indicate the choice to vote for Phillips was still more positive than the vote for Dole.  If my single vote kept Dole from beating Clinton, that would still be more positive and the Republicans would be so close to victory they could taste it.  They would more likely embrace Christian values for the next election (the current election cycle, now in 2000!).   We are behind because we failed 4 years ago.

Isn't it clear that if Christians had stood firm for God  4 years ago, we would likely still had Clinton but now we would be in position to reclaim the Republican party or shift the momentum to a worthy 'third party'.  We blew it and wasted our votes for Dole.  Will we do it again?  Who is willing to plan for the long run and both please God and help change the direction we are headed?  More important than who is elected president is how we handle the vote God has entrusted to us.  This is a test of our faith.  Do we trust the Ruler of the Universe or do we trust Republican strategists?  Choose you this day whom you will serve.

Unfortunately, this does not appear greatly different this election.   A vote for a compromising candidate cannot please God.  We shouldn't fear Al Gore and his judge appointees.  Seven of the 9 current Supreme Court justices were nominated by Republican presidents.  Without a litmus test and with G.W. Bush's track record in Texas, we will get a mixed group of judges.  We still lose with a vote for him.  Don't fear Gore.  We should fear God and keep His commandments.   Trust God to make this work out, He will if we don't let Him down.

Proverbs 29:25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

1Samuel 12:14 If you fear the LORD and serve and obey him and do not rebel against his commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the LORD your God--good! 15 But if you do not obey the LORD, and if you rebel against his commands, his hand will be against you, as it was against your fathers...24 But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. 25 Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away."

Don't let anyone tell you a vote for Howard Phillips was a 'wasted vote'.   Obviously that is not true.

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve , whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
