Federal Marriage Constitutional Amendment

When you think it is safe to go into the water, look out.  It looks like we have a big problem again.  Not only with President Bush (merely an accomplice) but with so-called 'Christian leaders'.

It frankly grieves us that we are sheep without a shepherd.  We assume these folks are doing their best and are representing God and us in the political arena.  We are mislead, as the 'leaders' have also lost direction, forgetting their anchor to the Bible.

Family Research Council, James Dobson, Christian Coalition, Tony Perkins, Gary Bauer, and others are beating the drum in this election season to fight for a federal constitutional amendment for marriage between a man and a woman.  Few, including Rev. Louis Shelton (Traditional Values Coalition), have stood against this to their credit.

Let us consider why.  The main purpose is to stop homosexual marriages.  Even though under our current constitution we never had this problem before, we seem to think the constitution is at fault and must be amended.  I guess the founders weren't thinking when they put it together, or so it would seem from this approach.  Pure foolishness.  We didn't need it then and we don't now.

The constitution is sound.  So, what is the problem?  Activist judges are undeniably a major problem.  How should we fix them?  If you listen to our 'Christian leaders' we fix them by changing the constitution (or at least limit their damage).  In reality, they forget their mandate to 'go and make disciples' and 'the battle is the Lord's' and 'He will be with us'.  Instead of focusing on the sinful practice of those standing for homosexual marriage, they focus on our primary document with the power to overthrow those same judges who deserve immediate removal.

The Republicans have sold us out, again.  They could have brought this up years ago but didn't.  How many years has Bush been president and with Republican majorities in both houses?  They really don't care.  Their goal is to bring it up now to 'energize their base' since we have been ignored, their poll numbers have slipped and they need us to save their majorities in congress.  They don't care for the battle.  They use us.

If they really cared, instead of ruining the constitution, they would be using it to impeach or to reel in the judges.  They don't care.  Why did I say "ruining"?  Because they are attempting to ruin the constitution, but thank God (literally) for the 'evil' Democrats who will probably not allow the 2/3 majority in the Senate for it to go to the states for ratification.

Let us look at the Amendment.  Especially note the red letters below.

Reported by Mr. SPECTER, without amendment

JOINT RESOLUTION

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to marriage.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States:

`Article--

`SECTION 1. This article may be cited as the `Marriage Protection Amendment'.

`SECTION 2. Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.'.

Let us look at what our esteemed president said in his wonderful address for this Amendment on
June 5, 2006.

President Bush:

..."The constitutional amendment that the Senate will consider this week would fully protect marriage from being redefined. It will leave state legislatures free to make their own choices in defining legal arrangements other than marriage. A constitutional amendment is the most democratic process by which our country can resolve this issue. In their wisdom, our founders set a high bar for amending the Constitution. An amendment must be approved by two-thirds of the House and the Senate, and then ratified by three-fourths of the 50 state legislatures. This process guarantees that every state legislature and every community in our nation will have a voice and a say in deciding this issue." (Applause.) ...

Besides Rev. Shelton, who understands how wrong this is?  This becomes, inadvertently or cognizantly, a back door constitutionalization establishing homosexual unions.  This makes the civil unions part of our constitution.  The one legal document that is not broken and is our only hope for reforming our government!!!!

Yet all these folks begging for our money and our phone calls to supposedly fight for God are the reason this is happening!!!  Even Bush and the rest of the Republicans aren't wanting this amendment.  They are pandering to folks who claim to deliver our votes to them, as they have in the past.  They believe they are doing God's work yet in reality, regrettably, they are doing Satan's work, through Washingtonian twisted thinking.

Don't we know that it isn't marriage that God abhors.  Marriage is simply a name.  God abhors homosexual behavior.  It is lukewarm Christians that anger Him.  We are pleading loudly that God will strike our nation with his unbearable judgment, especially because His people have left Him and His directions.

May He wake us up and we plead repentance.
