Whatever happened to fear?

Adrian Rogers http://www.lwf.org  in a great sermon (5/9/99) "Will God Impeach America?"  made the comment-

"Not only is God America's Greatest Hope, God is America's Biggest Threat!!! ... God is about ready to impeach America!"

WE must FEAR GOD!

As Adrian Rogers also makes clear, we must NOW turn or else we will regret blowing our chance to that we have today.  In 10 years we will be in great suffering, if we have that long remaining, unless we repent.

We see decals everywhere saying "NO FEAR"We would be much better off saying "KNOW FEAR".  This is Biblical and appropriate.  The righteous have nothing to fear but still respect God and have understanding that He will judge us.   All others should see that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament.  He has not changed.  He can destroy us in the blink of an eye, and put us in Hell for eternity.  Not very politically correct of Him, is it?  Do not despair, if you are willing to turn to His Son, Jesus Christ.  He will deliver those who follow Him and trust (have faith in) Him.  (see Christian Walk, email for more information about becoming saved diojqa@dutyisours.com)

Exodus 18:21 But select capable men from all the people--men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain--and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

Leviticus 19:13 "`Do not defraud your neighbor or rob him. "`Do not hold back the wages of a hired man overnight. 14 "`Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the LORD. 15 "`Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly. 16 "`Do not go about spreading slander among your people. "`Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am the LORD.

Leviticus 25:17 Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the LORD your God. 18 "`Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land.

Job 28:28 And he said to man, `The fear of the Lord--that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.'"

Psalms 36:1 An oracle is within my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. 2 For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin. 3 The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and to do good.

Psalms 85:9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.

Psalms 103:11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. 112:1 Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands.

Jeremiah 5:22 Should you not fear me?" declares the LORD. "Should you not tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it. 23 But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts; they have turned aside and gone away. 24 They do not say to themselves, `Let us fear the LORD our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.' 25 Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.

Zepheniah 3:7 I said to the city, `Surely you will fear me and accept correction!' Then her dwelling would not be cut off, nor all my punishments come upon her. But they were still eager to act corruptly in all they did. 8 Therefore wait for me," declares the LORD, "for the day I will stand up to testify. I have decided to assemble the nations, to gather the kingdoms and to pour out my wrath on them-- all my fierce anger. The whole world will be consumed by the fire of my jealous anger.

Luke 12:4 "I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear : Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Proverbs 1:27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. 28 "Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me. 29 Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD, 30 since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, 31 they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." 13 "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips." 14 "Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness." 15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and misery mark their ways, 17 and the way of peace they do not know." 18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes." 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.

2 Corinthians 9:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 11 Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.

Choose to fight against the apostasy and neglect of our Almighty God.  Be on His side with faith in Christ and in the long run, He will bless you with eternal life in Heaven, in His presence.  If we only knew the glorious riches to come.  Now is the hard part.  Stay the course.  Repent from not putting Him first.   Follow Jesus Christ only He can save you.

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved ."
