Facts and things that arise - January thru February 2000

We now have candidate McCain throwing darts at G.W. Bush for his recent visit to Bob
Jones University. McCain further complains that Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are
supporting Bush in an un-Christian like manner. Alan Keyes, steadfast and true,
acting more presidential than others, is ignored.
McCain is partially correct, though. Why do Falwell and Robertson, in the name of
Christianity, compromise God's values to support one candidate who has essentially the
same policy on abortion and MFN for China. The (inadvertent?) hypocrisy is exposed.
McCain needs to clean up his own position as well, if he really desires to please
Almighty God. Bush is there too. Both should not sit on the fence, be bold, be
presidential. This should not be a big deal to embrace their Savior's will.
Why do these 'Christian leaders' (Falwell and Robertson) deny support to Keyes, the
only Republican doing his best, whatever the cost, to please God with his policies?
Don't they see the imminent danger from God's impending judgment or our own foolishness?

Christians- who do you trust? Dont
fear Al Gore. Our fear of Bill Clinton has helped us get to where we are today,
with first his election and intimidation of Congress, etc.
Proverbs
29:25
Fear of man will prove to
be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. |
We still live in a republic with democratically elected
officials. Our Christian founding fathers gave the power to "We the people". Our
compromise, believing the self-fulfilling prophecy that says someone like Alan Keyes
cant win, takes us down further. Anyone who chooses to vote that way (for the lesser
of 2 evils) is guilty of supporting evil (not to imply that personally other candidates
are evil, but that their policies include immoral choices).
We could actually win. South Carolina showed that it is possible to
motivate those who generally do not vote to choose to cast ballots when something is at
stake. South Carolina had over 561,000 votes cast in the primary when in 1996 there were
276,775 votes.
The results are as follows.

Keyes likely would have a higher percentage if the
additional voters would not have come. They were primarily energized to get Bush or McCain
over the other by the press in a race too close to call. Keyes was forgotten in the frenzy
between the others, therefore the additional voters would likely have been for one of the
other 2, therefore diluting Keyes percentage. He otherwise, would likely have been
in double digits, but barely so.
Hey! Christian leaders out there- support principle,
not party or their chosen ones. We have fallen behind again, largely due to the lack of
realized urgency and embrace of God's truth. Put your faith in our Almighty God,
never compromising His values. We could even win! Jesse Ventura won, without God on
his side, imagine that. It is up to each of us, including you.
In the 1998 elections, 38% of eligible voters actually voted. In a 1996
Gallup poll, 84% of Americans consider themselves as "Christians". Leaders- help
motivate the Christians to not compromise and point out candidates compromise. Only
by standing firm on those values we care the most about (and pleases God) will we save our
nation that is in extreme danger of Gods judgment.

Things continue to be fluid.
For Buchanan supporters, the Reform Party had a meeting in Nashville
with the dissolution of order and subsequent ousting of Jesse Ventura supporters. Donald
Trump, to no ones surprise, has decided, after his publicity, to withdraw from the
possibility of a candidacy. It appears the pro-Perot forces within the party have won.
Will Perot run? Will Buchanan even make the ticket?
Republican candidates have dropped to 3, Alan Keyes, G.W. Bush, and John
McCain. The South Carolina debate showed one candidate who kept pulling the others to
discussions on the issues. McCain and Bush were thankfully separated by Keyes who showed
great dignity and restraint.
Why dont we realize what is happening with the Republican race,
maybe we do but we dont care, an indictment of our own failure. It is quite
clear that the only real outsider for true reform is Alan Keyes. What we are
seeing develop is a battle between the anointed candidate by the Republican leadership
(G.W. Bush) verses an anointed candidate by the media (John McCain). Outside of Keyes, who
is standing on principle, the battle is between control by the media and control by the
Republican leaders. Keyes has not wavered for expediency.
Gary Bauer made a terrible mistake by his endorsement of John McCain
(not to imply that Bush is any better-if principles were more important, he should have
endorsed Keyes). He likely expects some voice in a McCain administration, departing from
his first love, similar to Revelations account of the church of Ephesus
(Revelations 2:4). Of all the candidates who sought a nomination by the Republicans,
McCain has absolutely the worst pro-life stand (despite his supposedly good record). See
the excerpt by Dr. Dobson, speaking as an individual citizen, who coherently and concisely
made the point. McCain simply is not a choice we can make without compromising Gods
values.
Bauer believes that campaign finance reform is very important by stopping big business
from controlling the parties. He is right but at what cost? Will McCain
appoint a pro-life running mate? Is he ready to be strongly pro-life? This is
a reverse of what he has said in the past. Do we believe he will go the right way?
Not if cross-over Democrats are owed some assurances in the future.
| Bauer Endorses McCain, Dr. Dobson Disapproves
Washington -- In an announcement that caught many pro-life advocates by surprise,
former GOP presidential candidate Gary Bauer yesterday endorsed Sen. John McCain in his
bid for the White House, calling him the "best shot" to win. Bauer's endorsement
comes at a crucial time for McCain, who has taken heat from the National Right to Life
Committee, Alan Keyes, Phyllis Schlafley and other pro-life leaders for waffling on
pro-life issues.
Although Bauer acknowledged that McCain's position on abortion was "less absolute
than his own," he said that McCain agreed with him that "we must work to ensure
that every child gets welcomed into the world and protected by the law."
Ironically, Bauer's quotation of Richard John Neuhaus' now-infamous statement is the
same that has been used throughout the campaign by George W. Bush. Speaking at a rally for
McCain at Furman University in South Carolina, Bauer said, "I've looked John in the
eye. I've talked to him. I've looked at his voting record. I believe it is by and large a
pro-life voting record."
McCain, who is in a statistical dead heat with Texas Gov. George W. Bush going into
Saturday's South Carolina primary, said he hoped that Bauer's endorsement would bolster
his popularity among pro-life Republicans, many of whom have expressed concerns over
McCain's stance on abortion. He said, "There has been so much doubt raised about my
commitment to some of these issues. [Gary Bauer will] dispel that."
A new Zogby International poll shows Bush and McCain running neck-and-neck, with Bush
leading 43%-40% with a four percentage point margin of error.
Meanwhile, speaking as a private individual and not as the president of Focus on the
Family, Dr. James Dobson expressed disagreement with
Bauer's endorsement of Senator McCain. Dobson said, "McCain has offered no assurances
that he intends to appoint a pro-life running mate or pro-life justices to the U.S.
Supreme Court."
"Indeed," Dobson indicates, "he voted for pro-abortion Stephen Breyer
and pro-abortion ACLU-activist Ruth Bader Ginsburg for that Court and for David Satcher
for Surgeon General, who supports partial-birth-abortion.
McCain also voted in support of President Clinton to expand fetal-tissue
research," Dobson said. Gary Bauer's endorsement of the Senator is troubling for
another reason," Dobson indicated. "When Clarence Thomas was being considered
for Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Mr. Bauer actively championed his candidacy.
However, Warren Rudman who is John McCain's National Campaign Chairman and his most likely
choice for U.S. Attorney General was a pro-abortion Senator who opposed confirmation of
Clarence Thomas, despite the fact that he voted for him in order to get three federal
judgeships approved. He said about the Thomas decision, 'It's a vote I'm not proud
of.'"
"Given these concerns about McCain, it is difficult to understand how Gary Bauer
can support him 'with great pride and with absolutely no reservation,'" Dobson
concluded. Dobson's statement was not intended to imply Dr. Dobson's endorsement of anyone
else's candidacy for the presidency -- simply to clarify his lack of support for Senator
McCain. |
A simple guarantee. If Bush gets the nomination,
he will run to the center after using the right pro-life advocates to get the
nomination. Once that happens, there is no turning back. He will owe the theoretical
masses of people more than the core who care. He has seen the votes that McCain has
managed to pick up and wants those people too.
If McCain gets the nomination and Perot gets his partys
nomination, pro-life Christians have no choice. Howard Phillips of the Constitution Party
will welcome their votes. He will, as Keyes, strongly and unwaveringly carry the banner
high. Keyes will depart from the Republican party (the party left him) and will stand on
principle. Where? With Phillips?
Christians!!! Wake UP! Our voices are being diluted by many of the
Christian leaders of our nation. We have just seen a great example by one who
deserved great respect, Gary Bauer. Many others have divorced themselves from the process,
worried about their 501c3 tax exempt status, allowing by default to endorse a lukewarm (in
policy) G.W. Bush. Like the Pharisees and Saduccees of Christs time, most of our
Christian leaders who have spoken with great authority have compromised
Gods values. Why? To win. They show no faith in God and His providence. They have
willingly (but unwittingly and foolishly) led and allowed the further demise of our
nation.
Our Christian Founding Fathers refused to compromise. They put the power
in your hands, asking only that the you are engaged enough to understand the issues and
avoid the current celebrity races that are typical of todays politics. Our nation
will not stand unless we realize this and take the uncompromising stand on Gods
values. Dont follow anyones lead. Seek truth from scriptures and act on it.
Win? We, as Christians, might well win if we take our responsibility to
God seriously. With a scenario including Perot, Gore, McCain, Green party, Libertarians
and others, a Constitution Party candidate could pull the numbers for a victory if the
majority of Christians realized the danger with which we have been flirting, stand firm
and tell others. The other voters who dont care about Gods values could be
divided amongst the politicians. Only God knows. We must repent and seek His will. Doing
that, we will win with God.
For all of us who want to reform the Republican party, we are behind.
Keyes is the answer today. You believe a self-fulfilling prophecy that says he cant
win. You make that come true by voting for someone else. How foolish we have become when
we listen to those who want to control us. Support Keyes now!!
To win at any cost is too expensive, if you
give up that which matters most.
We will each give an account before Almighty God for our lives.
Now is your chance. Make it count.

Today, Steve Forbes decided to quit the race. This comes after the

Forbes will be missed. He has
come a long way toward being more vocal regarding the moral issues. He failed to see
the error of trade with China. Unfortunately, this leaves the 2 candidates
intact who refuse to have a litmus test for Supreme Court Justices and believe we should
be friends with people persecuting our brothers and sisters. This simplifies the
decision for Christians who choose to stand as John the Baptist did against evil. He
made a strong stand. The only Republican candidate who does the same is Alan
Keyes. Where are the Christians? Go ahead
and win- but at what cost? You really lose. You likely will lose the election
anyway. Does anyone remember Dole in 1996?
Ok. That was Delaware. Let's see what
South Carolina does.

The Iowa caucus was revealing from the standpoint that more votes were
for conservatism than the expedient choice of Bush who sits on the fence on the
moral issues. This, of course, comes as a shock to the pollsters and pundits who anointed
Bush as the choice. Add up the votes and Gary Bauers 6%, Alan Keyes 14%, and
Steve Forbes 30% is clearly greater than that of Bushs 41%.

New Hampshire was disappointing. When Sen. McCain was
asked what would he do if his daughter became pregnant and was thinking about an abortion,
his response was to have a family conference and help her choose.

As Alan Keyes pointed out in a debate, this response
shows a lack of understanding regarding the moral decision about to be made. Keyes points
out that if his daughter came to him saying that she wanted to kill Grandma to get the
inheritance, the idea of a family conference is absurd. Of course John McCain would say
absolutely no to that idea. This is the right approach to see the truth of the evil of
abortion, albeit difficult swimming upstream in this confused society today.
New Hampshire made a mistake. Their independents (the largest group of
registered voters) were not considering this truth. Still, there are a lot of other
primaries coming quickly. With Iowa only ~1% of delegates have been chosen.
Gary Bauer has left the campaign. This is both fortunate for him and
other moral conservatives (Keyes and Forbes)
as well as for the "front-runners" who Bauer held in check, pointing out
problems with MFN to China and lack of a litmus test. Bauer now gets to rest.
He fought a good fight and tried his best. He didnt back down from convictions. He
made excellent points. We owe him thanks for helping expose the moral stands by the other
candidates. Keyes stands heads above the others with
his unwavering, eloquent style pointing out our need to fix the moral problems now.
Howard Phillips makes a great point: 'To achieve victory, first you must seek
it'. Don't compromise and choose a lesser candidate if you agree that moral issues
come first. Please God and vote for His values.
Look folks, the fact he didnt do better than he did makes it
abundantly clear where our nation stands morally. We are in great need of a revival and a
true fear of Almighty God. This fear is not simply honor as many theologians tend to
believe. It is a genuine trembling, Alfred Hitchcock-like fear. This is pointed out in the
following scripture.
Exodus 20: 18 When the people saw the thunder and lightning and
heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear . They stayed at
a distance 19 and said to Moses, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not
have God speak to us or we will die." 20 Moses said to the people, "Do not be
afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to
keep you from sinning."
We do not fear God today. If we do not change, He will remind us of our
mistakes in His time. Now is the time to repent. Show God you care and have faith- vote
for only the individual(s) who put morals first. To do less is to welcome Gods
judgment. May God have mercy on us.

Things are popping. Four debates in just over a week. The
VCR is smoking. There is very little new information surfacing since the earlier debates.
The real value in watching these comes from reaffirming the solid, ongoing, relentless
G.W. Bush policy of no pro-life litmus test for any judges he may appoint and a possible
running mate.
Alan Keyes and Gary Bauer should make Christians proud that
their voices are strong and clear. Points made are right on target. Keyes stands out like
a light on the hill when he says things the others just cannot bear themselves to say.
Things such as hot issues like gays in the military and money for AIDS, pointing out that
it is a moral problem and money (as we have already shown time and time again) wont
fix it.
Bauer has pushed the governor more than any other regarding
judicial appointments and MFN for China. Keep up the good fight. Before we know it, it
will be over. Bauer's approach to the tithe seemed the best answer to
charity.
There was one notable difference between Gary Bauer and
Alan Keyes. Keyes believes (and agreed to here) that our nation has a moral problem due to
the individuals in this nation who have dropped the ball, many of whom claim Christ as
Lord. This is exemplified in the re-election of Clinton, we may have screwed up once but
since it happened twice, this is evidence of our choice.
Bauer believes that Clinton is an "aberration"
and that Americas citizenry are generally good. Sure, there are many who care deeply
and are the only reason God hasnt leveled this land in judgment. Unfortunately, they
are misunderstood, reviled, often defeated and slandered by the larger group of godless
individuals. Lose that remnant and the country will unravel. Clinton is evidence that the
remnant is outnumbered. It cannot be an accident that he was elected twice and the
majority of the polls showed people didnt want the perjurer impeached.
Governor Bush, you claim Christ. You say it affects the way
you are. You say you are the only candidate who has appointed judges, come
down to Texas and see what happened. Human Events conservative weekly
did. Their report came out January 14, 2000. Click here for some excerpts.
Matthew 5: 19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of
these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom
of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the
kingdom of heaven.
Destroying developing humans would break at least one of
the commandments. Is it really better to be president, or would you rather be great in the
kingdom of heaven? Be a leader.
One other thing, Gov. Bush: Do not be embarrassed by your
Lord. Be strong. We need not apologize for him. You emphasize "my faith teaches, my
faith
" that Jesus is the way to salvation. Guess what. This is true and like
Tim Russert asked, it is exclusionary from the standpoint of the scriptures. To disregard
this is to fail to warn others of hell, although this should be gently yet firmly
conveyed.
Acts 4: 12 Salvation is found in no one
else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be
saved."
You should not apologize. True Christianity treats all
people as Gods children and Christ showed only love to all. Fairness and love on the
part of Christians to others allows us to show Gods love through us and hopefully
will allow their salvation.
Patrick Henry said:
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was
founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum,
prosperity and freedom of worship here."
U.S. Supreme Court wrote in
1892 (Church of the Holy Trinity v United States):
"Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be
based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it
should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our
institutions are emphatically Christian."
On a secular note, Senator Orrin Hatch agrees with Alan
Keyes that the tax system needs to be completely overhauled. Hatch has pointed out
the horrible nature of the Clinton administration. It would not be surprising that
he would be a decent moral president.
