Coronavirus, etc. Amos 3:6 When a trumpet sounds in a city, do not the people tremble? When disaster comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it? Are you awake yet? Unfortunately we too have fallen victim to the LORD’s removal of His hedge of protection around our once Christian nation. We have chosen the path other societies in history had chosen to only find themselves destroyed. God’s timing always seems delayed or even not to weigh in on our world’s dilemmas. According to the Bible, He does intervene and He cares. He loves us so much He punishes His children when we stray. We, as a once Christian nation, should expect God to respond to our willful rejection of Him. He will punish (and we are being punished) through recent events that still have not fully played out. Yes, the Coronavirus pandemic is merely a part, perhaps the straw that broke the camel’s back or as some would see as a black swan event. Our financial situation is as desperate as ever. Between the virus and broken supply chains and an oil war, individual and foolish government and Federal Reserve policies, we have entered a true financial crisis. We will see other events; perhaps warfare, political and others coming harder and faster at us. Matthew 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. It is an opportunity for us to turn back to Him in humble repentance for us turning our backs on Him. It is a real opportunity for us to wake up. Deuteronomy 28:45 All these curses will come on you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the LORD your God and observe the commands and decrees he gave you. 46 They will be a sign and a wonder to you and your descendants forever. 47 Because you did not serve the LORD your God joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity, These things show our desperate need to humble ourselves and beg for His mercy. We need Jesus Christ. Not just the virus, but our myriad of rejection of God’s commands as laid out in the Bible. Our sins are many. Our repentance is not yet. God’s punishment will continue until He chooses to stop, so that some will repent and be saved through Christ. For those who choose not to, further misery here only leads to eternal punishment, regret and anguish. Why would we foolishly reject God when He alone can save us? When we follow Him, we should expect His blessings according to the scriptures. Most importantly, our newfound blessings become fully realized when we enjoy eternity with Him. Only by doing so should we expect to be healed and expect God to save us from ourselves. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. How much longer do we have before it is too late? Now is the appointed time, God is calling us. So what else should we do? We must fall on our knees in repentance for leaving our God. We should pray. What should we pray? Definitely not ‘bless our nation’. Definitely not ‘help us not get this virus’. Definitely not ‘help our financial situation’. Nor anything else! Until…’Oh Lord, I have sinned. Forgive me. Your will be done. I give my life to you. Thank you for salvation through Jesus Christ.’ And really mean it. Our loving God will hear that prayer. He will take notice of the broken believer who repents. Perhaps then He (as He has done before) may heal our land. Without this, the virus will likely be tamped down at some time. But, we are going to hell. It is time to pray. Oh forgive me LORD. Please. Past time.
