President Bush and the Homosexual Activist Agenda

See Preface to consider why this is important

These excerpts, largely plagurized from Howard Phillip's booklet, "50 Reasons (and more) We Are Not Better with Bush " (see below to order), are just some of the evidences God's direction for us to not compromise His values, even in politics.   Yes, we have seen further proof that we would be better off with trusting God and His commandments than to use our own flawed reasoning that a vote for Mr. Bush was better than a vote for Al Gore when we had another choice.  We ignored the candidate in 2000 whose #1 issue was to end legalized abortion, whose agenda was firmly planted in God's Word, and who personifies the founding father's wisdom and true conservatism.  Our witness would have been intact to those perishing as well.  We get what we asked for, are you proud of your choice for Mr. Bush?  What is your evidence that he has stood firm for 'God's issues'?  We will each answer to God for our actions, do we want to disappoint Him?  Here is some evidence we must consider.

Mary Matalin, a choice made by President Bush's right hand man

Bush pushes GOP leadership embrace of homosexuals.

Peter LaBarbera writes (culturefacts, 1/12/0 1) that "Mary Matalin, the GOP strategist who was recently hired as an aide to President-elect George Bush and as counselor to Vice President-elect Dick Cheney, has an extensive record of supporting the homosexual activist movement and belittling religious conservatives opposed to homosexual behavior.

"Matalin has become a leading advocate within the GOP of the Log Cabin Republicans (LCR), a homosexual activist group that supports ‘gay marriage,’ homosexual adoption of children, and federal pro-homosexual employment legislation....

"Matalin who stepped down from her position as conservative co-host of CNN’s Crossfire to join the administration said she has always spoken out on ‘gay rights,’ ‘but never had a megaphone until George W. Bush reached out last spring to gays and lesbians,’ referring to his meeting with a group of 12 homosexual supporters.

"Matalin was a featured speaker at two Log Cabin fund-raising banquets, one held at the Republican convention in Philadelphia, the other at the Democratic convention in Los Angeles. She also hosted a reception for the D.C. Log Cabin affiliate in the new restaurant she owns with her husband, Democratic political strategist James Carville. ..."

"Matalin has made the following statements on the homosexual issue:

"‘...I will demonize Republicans that gay bash in 2000. Itm not going to be officially working for anybody. But if we don’t get off that, we don’t deserve to be the majority party, that’s for sure....’ February 14, 1999, guest on NBC News’ Meet the Press. Editor’s note: Matalin, like many pro-homosexual activists, habitually refers to those who oppose the homosexual political agenda as ‘gay bashers.’"

"‘I do not believe the [Republican] party has a preponderance of the Leviticus crowd [a slam at Christian and Jewish family advocates who quote passages from the Book of Leviticus to show that God forbids homosexuality]. If science is in any way a part of your life, you just can’t agree with them about homosexuality. The party has to come to the consensus that to discriminate or even be judgmental about gays is plain wrong. It’s just the trajectory of this nation. But, unfortunately, it’s going to take some time.’ Quoted by The Advocate, a magazine for homosexuals, July 4, 2000."

"· She praised Tafel for doing ~Gods work beating back discriminatory attitudes and advancing inclusion’ in the GOP. Online interview with ‘gay’ activist David Mixner on Gay.com last year."

"'We are here to honor gay and lesbian Republicans 'To be a real conservative is to be pro-gay,’ Matalin told a Philadelphia reception for GOP homosexuals. Apparently referring to pro-family groups in the GOP who resist the homosexual Lobby, she said, ‘The loud voice of the few will not drown out the voice of the many.’ At the same event, Log Cabin Executive Director Tafel jokingly compared pro-family conservatives who spoke at the 1992 GOP convention to Nazis: ‘And the speakers were better in the original German,’ he said."

" ‘Matalin lauded her friend, lesbian activist Urvashi Vaid. Matalin plugged Vaid’s 1995 book, Virtual Equality: The Mainstreaming of Gay ‘& Lesbian Liberation. In a book-cover endorsement, Matalin described Vaid as a ‘Renaissance woman whose scholarship is exceeded only by her practicality.’ But on page 336 of the book, Vaid links American religious conservatives to totalitarians. Vaid writes that the ‘religious right’ is ‘best understood not as religious or moral, but as fundamentally anti-democratic and totalitarian.... The religious right stands against the most cherished concepts of democratic pluralism. ...‘"

IT’S NOW ASHCROFT’S OFFICIAL POLICY: FBI SECURITY CLEARANCES FOR HOMOSEXUALS

TIM RUSSERT: "During your confirmation hearings, you were asked whether or not sexual orientation should be a factor in granting security clearances by the FBI. You said you wanted to look into that. What have you decided?"

JOHN ASHCROFT: ‘Well, I do not inquire about sexual orientation and have not indicated that it should be in any of the responsibilities I’ve held in government. I didn’t when I was the State Auditor of Missouri. I did not when. I was Governor of Missouri, nor when I was Attorney General of Missouri, nor when I was a United States Senator.

TIM RUSSERT: "So it should not be a factor..."

JOHN ASHCROFT: "..I do not make it a factor..."

TIM RUSSERT: "...in granting a security clearance."

JOHN ASHCROFT: "That’s correct."

PRESIDENT BUSH AND ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHCROFT FUND PRO-HOMOSEXUAL "HATE CRIMES" ACTIVISM

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) says in a press release (4/4/01), that "In a serious and urgent effort to prevent youth-initiated hate violence, a comprehensive and innovative approach of outreach, education, and training, with a new interactive Web site, was announced today at the National Press Club, by a coalition of civil rights organizations. Partners Against Hate (PAH), a collaboration of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the Leadership Conference Education Fund (LCEF), and the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence (CPHV), received a one-million dollar government grant to design and implement this new endeavor. The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the U.S. Department of Education, Safe and Drug-Free Schools Program jointly fund the grant."

" ‘All too often these days we witness young people acting out their biases and hatred in violent ways,’ said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director.... Until we have a vaccine against the poison of hate, education becomes the only antidote we have, and our best hope, to counteract racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, bigotry, and prejudice.’"

"Mr. Foxman said that ADL, LCEF, and the CPHV would together create, implement, and sustain that education. ‘We know today’s children rely heavily on technology for their entertainment and their education. Thus Partners Against Hate is focusing on the use of technology to deliver this education. Today, we have an opportunity to create a generation that will bear witness to solutions instead of to horrors. To do this, we are committed to creating the necessary tools."

"Wade Henderson, Executive Director of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, and Counsel to the LCEF, said ‘The Partners Against Hate project aggressively integrates technology and the Internet into innovative programs to disseminate a message of racial harmony and non-discrimination to a broad audience and to make more widely available the tools we believe can effectively reduce bigotry and youth-initiated hate violence.

"Specialized Training Programs will include: · Middle School Hate Crime Prevention Training-of-Trainers will result in a cadre of training teams capable of conducting workshops on preventing bias-motivated harassment and violence. Multidisciplinaiy Regional Training will provide specific guidance on promising and replicable prevention and intervention strategies for a specific local environment. · National/State Policymaker - Training will educate Federal and State policymakers and professionals with information about the national hate crime problem, active hate groups, and analyses of implementation of State hate crimes laws and rehabilitation programs in juvenile justice centers.

"By broadening the partner organizations’ extensive ‘offline’ work on hate crime prevention, as well as adapting their approaches for interactive use ‘online,’ PAH will: leverage the power of technology to reach the widest possible coalition of individuals of good will; accelerate the speed and ease with which information and technical assistance is shared; add a critical quality of interactivity to existing materials: and sustain the programs and strategies developed well beyond the life of the project."

PRESIDENT BUSH WELCOMES HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVISTS

Jill Lawrence writes (USA Today, 4/17/01,p. 8A) that "President Bush’s choice of a gay man to head the White House AIDS office is the latest sign of a warming trend between gays and the GOP."

PRESIDENT CLINTON’S PRO-HOMOSEXUAL EXECUTIVE ORDER KEPT

"Bush named four openly gay people to help with his transition, and aides are interviewing more than a dozen for key jobs. Bush has moved to reverse some of former president Bill Clinton’s policies on abortion, labor and the environment, but he has left in place a 1998 order banning discrimination against gays in 1.7 million federal civil service jobs...."

"The AIDS office amounts to an advocacy post, and ‘even Bill Clinton did not name a prominent gay activist’ to head it, says Richard Lessner of American Renewal, a lobbying group. ‘Increasingly, we’re seeing gestures from the president that are strikingly inconsistent with his repeated assertions that he stands for marriage and the family.’

"[G]ay people ... are encouraged by other appointments, including Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson, Labor Secretary Elaine Chao and Education Secretary Rod Paige. All have worked with gay activists. ...

"Bush directed Thompson, his platform chairman, to eliminate planks opposing gay marriage, gays in the military and civil rights protections for gays and lesbians. When the platform committee outvoted Thompson, he protested on TV...."Mary Cheney, a lesbian, was her father’s chief campaign travel aide. She and her partner, Heather Poe, sat with other relatives on the VIP stand at the Inauguration."

HYDE. HATCH, AND FRIST FOLLOW BUSH’S LEAD ON OUTREACH TO HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVISTS

Lou Chibbaro writes (Washington Blade, 5/11/01, p. 1) that "Three senior GOP leaders in Congress who have kept their distance on Gay issues in the past pledged during meetings last week with Log Cabin Republicans to work with the Gay community on domestic and international AIDS programs while taking a more cautious stand on Gay civil rights issues.

"Officials with Log Cabin, a national Gay group, said the decision by Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Bill Frist (RTenn.) and Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Ill.) to attend publicly announced meetings with about 50 members of the Log Cabin board and staff was yet another signal that prominent Republicans - including President George W. Bush — are breaking from their party’s longstanding reluctance to become involved in Gay-related matters. The three lawmakers are considered to be among the most influential conservatives in Congress.

"Hyde, a leading figure in the nation’s antiabortion movement, signed a statement in March pledging not to discriminate against members of his congressional staff on the basis of sexual orientation. For more than a decade, Hyde had declined to sign the statement, which is distributed to all members of Congress by the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest Gay political group.

"‘This is a sign that the Congress, like the country as a whole, is becoming more understanding and more tolerant on our issues,’ said Winnie Stachelberg, HRC’s political director.

"Hyde and Frist met May 3 with the Log Cabin officials during the group’s seventh annual congressional briefing, which it holds each May during the week of the group’s board of directors meeting. Hyde and Frist, along with six other GOP House members, met publicly with the Log Cabin officials in a room in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill. Hatch, who could not attend the public meeting due to a scheduling conflict, met privately in his Senate office with about two dozen Log Cabin board and staff members that same day, according [to] Log Cabin spokesperson Kevin Ivers.

"The other lawmakers attending the meeting at the Rayburn Building were openly Gay Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-Ariz.) and Reps. Connie Morella (R-Md.), Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Mark Foley (R-Fla.), Kay Granger (R-Texas), John Shimkus (R-Ill.), and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) [sic]."

ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHCROFT’S JUSTICE DEPARTMENT CELEBRATES "GAY PRIDE"

President Bush not only equaled Bill Clinton’s decision to name an openly homosexual person as an ambassador (Clinton named James Hormel to Luxembourg — Bush named Michael Guest as Ambassador to Romania). Bush is also providing travel, room and board, for the homosexnal partners of U.S. diplomatic personnel below the ambassadorial level. Secretary of State Colin Powell personally administered the oath of office to Ambassador-designate Guest, and publicly acknowledged his homosexnal partner at the swearing-in ceremony.

"‘We’re Here! We’re Career!’ That’s the slogan of this year’s annual gay pride celebration at ... the Justice Department.

Attorney General John "Ashcroft’s No. 2, Deputy Attorney General Larry D. Thompson, will speak at the gay pride celebration June 19 in Justice’s Great Hall on Pennsylvania Avenue. ...

POWELL’S STATE DEPARTMENT SUPPORTS "GAYS AND LESBIANS IN FOREIGN AFFAIRS"

"Just yesterday, Rep. Jim Kolbe (Ariz.), the only openly gay Republican in Congress, addressed employees in foreign affairs agencies, on the global challenge of HIV and AIDS. Kolbe’s talk was sponsored by Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies (GLIFAA) and the State Department’s Office of Civil Rights.

"‘I thought it was wonderful that the State Department gave such support to this organization,’ Kolbe said. He said the group has come a long way since it was founded in 1992 with fewer than a dozen members."

KAY COLE JAMES OK’S SPEECH BY MOTHER OF ELLEN DeGENERES

"Later this month, Betty DeGeneres will speak at the Office of Personnel Management’s gay pride celebration, with OPM support. Her daughter, actress Ellen DeGeneres, came out as a lesbian in 1997. ..."

PRESIDENT BUSH GOES FURTHER THAN ANY OTHER PRESIDENT TO OFFEND GOD

"Bush has named to head his Office of National AIDS Policy Scott H. Evertz, the first openly gay appointee of any GOP administration, according to Human Rights Campaign, a national lesbian and gay group.

"Since Evertz, the administration has appointed at least five other openly gay people, Smith said, including Ambassador to Romania David Guest. At Guest’s swearing-in, Secretary of State Cohn L. Powell, an administration moderate, acknowledged Guest’s partner, who was to accompany him to Bucharest."

"David Smith, a Human Rights Campaign spokesman, said the Bush administration has been ‘very careful not to take any significant steps backward" in its treatment of gay citizens and federal workers. It has not rescinded Clinton’s executive orders banning sexual orientation as a criterion in establishing security clearances, and barring discrimination in the nonuniform federal workforce on the basis of sexual orientation."

HOMOSEXUAL RECRUITMENT AT PRESIDENT G.W.BUSH’S USDA

Joyce Howard Price writes (Washington Times, 6/29/01, p. A6) that "The Bush administration is advertising for a ‘gay and lesbian program specialist’ at the U.S. Department of Agriculture at a salary of up to $97,108 a year, drawing criticism from many pro-family and conservative groups."  "‘This is the first time a federal agency has gone out and specifically identified a position to address internal workplace issues for gays and lesbians. It’s absolutely necessary,’ said Kitti Durham, a board member of Gay, Lesbian or Bisexual Employees (GLOBE), an advocacy group for homosexnals working for the federal government. ..."

"The GS-14 post, which pays between $74,697 and $97,108, depending on experience, was posted on the Office of Personnel Management Web site on June 19."

According to the ad, the duties of the ‘gay and lesbian program specialist’ at the USDA would include:

  • Working with individuals and groups to identify obstacles to equal opportunity for homosexuals and lesbians.

  • Developing policy on the use of homosexual and lesbian individuals and groups involving both programs and employment at the USDA.

  • Writing policy on the goals, use and integration of homosexual and   lesbian individuals and groups into the human resources management, civil rights and other programs of the USDA. Developing training programs designed to educate and train agency management as well as non-supervisory employees in the skills, policy, approaches and advantages of having and dealing with homosexuals and lesbians.

  • Designing systems to track and evaluate the success of homosexnal and lesbian initiatives. ...

"REPUBLICAN UNITY COALITION" WANT TAXPAYERS TO FUND SEXUAL PREFERENCES

"Allen Wildmon, spokesman for the American Family Association, said this federal personnel matter is not playing well with pro-family Republican supporters. ‘The [Republican] "big tent" is expanding under the Bush administration to include people based on bedroom behavior. We’re very disappointed,’ Mr. Wildmon said in a telephone interview from his office in Tupelo, Miss....

"The [Agriculture] official said the department is also seeking specialists to work with women, blacks, Hispanics, American Indians and Asians and to address ‘diversity’ issues. Funding all seven GS-14 positions would cost between $522,879 and $679,780."

REPUBLICAN HOUSE AUTHORIZES D.C. TO PAY HEALTH BENEFITS TO "MARRIED" HOMOSEXUALS

President Bush supported a decision to pay health benefits to "married homosexuals". The House of Representatives (9/25/01, Roll Call no. 352) voted to permit the nation’s capital to extend health benefits to gay couples for the first time. Voting 226 to 194, the House killed an effort to strip the measure from the District’s budget which was then passed overwhelmingly. Forty-five Republicans, including Tom Davis, Chairman of the GOP Congressional Campaign Goinmittee, House Rules Committee Chairmnn David Dreier, Iowa GOP Senate nominee Greg Dansky, House Ways and Means Chairman Bill Thomas voted in support of the measure, which President Bush signed into law on December 12, 2001 (PL 107-96).

Spencer Hsu writes (Washington Post, 9/26/01, p. Bi) that "The House of Representatives yesterday voted to permit the District to extend health benefits to gay couples for the first time, using the city’s $5.3 billion fiscal 2002 budget to wage a fierce debate over recognition of homosexual relationships.

"Voting 226 to 194, the House killed an effort to strip the measure from the District’s budget, which it then passed overwhelmingly. The bill next goes to the Senate, where the Appropriations Committee bogged down yesterday over the domestic partner benefit and other controversial social policy elements of the District spending plan."

"The House vote to end a federal ban on the District’s 1992 domestic partner law nonetheless marked an evolution in Congress’s attitude toward expanding the legal status of gays, said Winnie Stachelberg, spokeswoman for Human Rights Campaign, a gay rights advocacy group.

"‘The fact is that traditional families have changed in our society,’ said Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-Ariz.), who proposed letting the District use local money for the law. ‘It is time to start bringing our country together. We should be uniting our country.’...

"During the debate, several openly gay House members noted that the U.S. military has suspended its policy to expel gay troops because of the war on terrorism.

"Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) added afterward, ‘For the first time, [the House] has broken through the prejudice against gay men and lesbians on this floor.’ ...

"About 115 local governments, more than 4,000 companies and about one-third of the Fortune 500 list of the largest U.S. corporations offer benefits to domestic partners, amendment supporters said yesterday. ...

About 3,678 District- households identified themselves as same-sex couples in the 2000 Census."

"The District measure allows domestic partners to register with the city and Washington government workers to buy health insurance for partners and claim family and medical leave. The law also lets qualifying couples claim familial rights at hospitals, nursing homes and adoption agencies...

PRO-"SAME-SEX MARRIAGE" GOP CONGRESSMEN

The 40 pro-homosexual rights Republicans were:

Bass(N.H.), Biggert (Ill.), Boehlert (N.Y.), Bono(Calif.), Castle (Del.), Tom Davis (Va.), Dreier (Calif.) Elirlich (Md.), English (Pa.), Ferguson and Frelinghuysen (N.J.), Ganske (Iowa), Gilchrest (Md.), Gillmor (Ohio), Gilman (N.Y.), Greenwood (Pa.),Hobson (Ohio), Horn (Calif.), Houghton(N.Y.), Issa(Calif.), Johnson (Conn.), Kelly (N.Y.), Kirk (Ill.), Kolbe (Ariz.), LaTourette (Ohio), Leach (Iowa), Lewis (Calif.), McCrery (La.), Miller (Fla.), Morella (Md.),Ose (Calif.), Pryce and Regula (Ohio), Rolirabacher (Calif.), Ros-Lehtinen and Shaw (Fla.), Shays and Simmons (Conn.), Sweeney (N.Y.), and Thomas (Calif.). Roll Call 352, 9/25/01, 194 to 226.

On June 24, 2002, President Bush signed into law legislation authorizing benefits to cohabiting homosexual partners. The votes in both the House and Senate were by unanimous consent (S. 2431, 5 702 passed the Senate, H.R. 3297, 6/11/02 passed the House). In all likelihood, this measure would have been defeated in Congress if Al Gore had been President and Republicans had, at least on partisan grounds, opposed the measure.

Elisabeth Bumiller writes (New York Times, 6/27/02, p. A20) that "The White House sent out the news of the bill-signing as a one-sentence e-mail announcement when it was certain to be ignored, at 6 p.m. on Monday, right after President Bush’s Middle East speech in the Rose Garden. That, at least, is not in dispute.

"But almost everything else about the new Mychal Judge Act, which allows for federal death benefits to be paid to the same-sex partners of firefighters and police officers who die in the line of duty, has become a summer mystery in the capital....

"The nation’s largest gay organization, the Human Rights Campaign, has applauded Mr. Bush’s signing of the bill as a ‘milestone’ for gays.

PRESIDENT BUSH BACKS HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA BELOW THE RADAR

‘The way that they announced the president’s signature on the bill is consistent with how they have approached these issues in general,’ said David Smith of the Human Rights Campaign, ‘which is quite cautiously and in a neutral way, and in a manner that attracts as little attention as possible.’

"But conservatives noticed all the same. ‘I’m very saddened that he signed it, because of the precedent that it sets,’ said Paul Weyrich, a longtime conservative activist.. ‘Conservatives are becoming somewhat troubled by some of the things that the administration is doing, and if you have just a percentage or two who stay at home, it’ll mean the difference between control or not in the 2002 elections.’

CIA ENLISTS HOMOSEXUALS IN "WAR ON TERRORISM"

The Central Intelligence Agency, with White House support, has enlisted homosexuals in the "war on terrorism". President Bush has failed to fire Bill Clinton’s CIA director George Tenet, who named the CIA building in Langley, Virginia after President G.W. Bush’s father, G.H.W. Bush. On June 6, 2001, CIA Director Tenet became the first CIA director to preside at a "Gay Pride Day" at the agency. Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) was invited to the event, and was advised by Tenet that the CIA is now "recruiting very actively" in the homosexual community.

"CIA Director George Tenet, whose agency failed to predict or stop the coldblooded murder of more than 6000 innocent Americans, holds the dubious distinction of being the first CIA director to preside at a ‘Gay Pride Day’ at the agency. There’s no indication that Tenet himself is gay, but the event which took place at the agency on June 6th 2000 was extraordinary and demonstrates the misplaced priorities at the CIA. Tenet welcomed openly homosexual Rep. Barney Frank to the affair, telling the congressman that the agency is ‘recruiting very actively’ in the homosexnal conimunity. ..."

"A group called the ‘Agency Network of Gay and Lesbian Employees’ exists at the CIA. It was reported that the ‘Gay Pride’ event drew about 100 homosexnal employees from the CIA and the National Security Agency. Ironically, Frank gave a speech at the event, saying he was a ‘strong supporter’ of the CIA and wanted them ‘to catch terrorists.’

"Tenet hasn’t done a good job of that. But in addition to his pandering to homosexuals, he has been rubbing elbows with the Hollywood crowd. Under Tenet, the agency has been trying to improve its image by collaborating with Hollywood on new television shows and films. The Guardian reports, ‘The CIA hopes that three new television series and five new films in which the agency is featured in a mainly flattering light will help to change its image as a shadowy organization specialising in dirty tricks and assassinations. So pleased is it with one of the series that it is throwing a red carpet reception for the premiere at its headquarters in Virginia. The new starring role for the CIA coincides with the agency’s decision to employ a full-time entertainment liaison officer, himself a former CIA officer in Latin America, and to throw open the doors of its headquarters to filmmakers.’

"The most prominent new television show, The Agency, airs on CBS on Thursday nights. The first episode shows CIA agents saving the life of Cuban Communist dictator Fidel Castro. Perhaps this story line reflects the direction in which Tenet wants to take the CIA. If so, this is another reason for President Bush to sack him. Another episode reportedly shows the CIA going after Arab terrorists. If only that were true." Source: Cliff Kincaid, America’s Survival, October, 2001

DR. DOBSON WONDERS WHY PRESIDENT BUSH NAMES SAFE-SEXER TO HEAD CDC

Dr. James Dobson, President of Focus on the Family, released a press statement (7/2/02) responding to reports citing Dr. Julie Gerberding as the new head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention~ in which he stated that "We are baffled as to why President Bush would appoint someone so out of step with his stated priorities. Dr. Gerberding has been in positions of leadership in the CDC for years, but there is nothing in the record to indicate her opposition to ‘safe-sex’ ideology. She has no apparent concern about the ineffectiveness of condom usage, nor any stated disagreement with the positions of the homosexnal activist movement, or with the provision of free needles to drug users. To the contrary, her writings ~clearly show that she believes the ‘safe sex’ lie that has entrapped millions of our teenagers many of whom are now fighting incurable sexually-transmitted diseases."

"The president campaigned on a policy of morality and ethics in government, and yet he is now asking us to hope that Dr. Gerberding’s policies will be consistent with those promises. We are reminded of the assurances given to conservatives that Justice David Souter would not lean radically to the left. But by the time the truth was disclosed, it was too late to oppose his confirmation for the Supreme Court. [NOTE: It was not too late. Your editor testified against Souter’s confirmation, documenting Souter’s anti-Christian legal positivism and his consistent pro-abortion activism.]

"This new appointment sends a disturbing message that the problems surrounding rampant sexual behavior can be solved with a false promise and a piece of latex. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is already the world’s largest promoter of homosexuality and ‘safe-sex’ programs, and now the president has appointed someone whose positions indicate that the organization will continue dishing out more of the same."

PRESIDENT BUSH’S HOMOSEXUAL APPOINTEES MOVE ABOUT

"The head of the White House AIDS office is on the move. FRC opposed the appointment of Scott Evertz last year because he had no public health qualifications, and as a gay political activist he had espoused policies, such as needle exchanges, at odds with the president’s position [sic]. Now, Mr. Evertz has been named special advisor to Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson responsible for the administration’s global AIDS policy. Mr. Evertz has been replaced at the White House by Dr. Joseph F. O’Neill, a physician and an openly gay career civil servant. It remains to be seen whether the new appointee will pursue policies more closely aligned with the president’s [sic]. More troubling is word that Patricia Ware, executive director of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, likely will be replaced.

Unlike Mr. Evertz, Ms. Ware is a strong advocate of the president’s positions [sic] that marriage and abstinence are the best defenses against AIDS transmission. This is representative of the tension that exists among White House staff about how to approach the gay agenda. If as some administration staff has said, that ‘personnel is policy,’ what do these changes say about the president’s policies?"

MILITANT HOMOSEXUAL RETURNS TO KEY PENTAGON PERSONNEL POST

"A consultant who helped Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld hire top civilians in 2001 is back at the Pentagon, an indication, defense sources say, that Mr. Rumsfeld plans a major personnel shake-up in the coming months.

"Consultant Stephen Herbits, who is openly homosexual, spent a stormy few months at the Pentagon last winter. He was criticized by religious conservatives for his prohomosexual views. He locked horns with incoming Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, Mississippi Republican, when he refused to recommend hiring a former Lott staffer.

"In the same interview, Mr. Herbits, a Miami Beach resident, criticized President Bush’s brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, for failing to meet with him over an anti-gay rights referendum on the 2002 ballot. The referendum ultimately failed.

‘I was so offended that I went to Rumsfeld and said, "I have to go home because I have to protect my kids from the president’s brother," the Advocate quoted Mr. Herbits as saying. The publication wrote that Mr. Rumsfeld asked, ‘Your kids?’ Mr. Herbits said, ‘Not my birth kids, but my kids who are struggling with their sexual orientation and have no one to take care of them.’"

PRESIDENT BUSH NAMES OPENLY GAY COLLINGSWORTH TO NATIONAL SECURITY EDUCATION BOARD

"The U.S. Senate on Nov. 19 approved President Bush’s nomination of an openly gay Republican to the National Security Education Board, which advises the government on how to train future leaders on global issues related to national security, including ways to better study ‘less commonly taught languages and cultures.’

NOT ONE REPUBLICAN SENATOR OBJECTED

The Senate approved "by unanimous voice vote [the appointment] of Arthur James Collingsworth, 58, a former national treasurer of the gay Log Cabin Republicans....

"Congress created the 13-member National Security Education Board in 1991 as part of the National Security Education Act. The board’s Web site says its mission includes developing ‘a cadre of professionals with more than the traditional knowledge of language and culture who can use this ability to help the U.S. make sound decisions on and deal effectively with global issues related to U.S. national security."’

"In a separate development, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld earlier this year retained for the second time in two years gay former corporate executive Stephen Herbits as a high level consultant on Defense Department personnel matters. Herbits is a former executive vice president of the Seagram Liquor & Beverage Corporation. He served as a Pentagon consultant during the administrations of President Reagan and President George H.W. Bush in the 1980s.

"Rumsfeld retained him as a [consultant] from January to May 2001.  A Pentagon spokesperson said Herbits’ latest DOD stint began in February of this year and could last as long as February 2003."

"Collingsworth, a resident of San Francisco, has spent most of his professional career dedicated to international education and philanthropy, with a side-line in real estate investment, according to a one-page biographical document the White House submitted to the Senate Armed Services Committee, which approved his nomination."

"The document states that he received a master’s degree in international relations from Georgetown University in 1971, where he was a fellow at Georgetown’s Center for Strategic & International Studies. He served as a senior advisor to the Royal Institute of International Mfairs in London from 1989 to 1994 and as director of the United Nations University Office for Europe from 1984 to 1988, the document states.

"It says Collingsworth is a member of a wide range of international foundations, including the American Friends of the Czech Republic, the American Scandinavian Foundation of New York, the Japan Society of Washington, and the San Francisco Committee on Foreign Relations. The biographical document also states that Collingsworth has been a member of the California Republican State Central Committee and served for three years as national treasurer of Log Cabin Republicans. The document says he divides his time between his homes in San Francisco and Prague, Czech Republic.

"The National Security Education Board is comprised of seven high-level federal officials, most of whom are members of the president’s cabinet. The remaining six members are senior non-federal officials appointed by the president. Of the five current non-government members, three are top officials at U.S. universities, one is a former congressman and the other is a former governor.

"Collingsworth becomes Bush’s sixth openly gay appointee since taking office in January 2001. The others include Joe O’Neill, the current head of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy; Scott Evertz, the previous head of that same office; Michael Guest, U.S. ambassador to Romania; Donald Capoccia, a member of the National fine Arts Commission; and Herbits, the DOD consultant. Guest accompanied Bush during the president’s visit on Nov. 23 to Romania." Source: Lou Chibbaro Jr., Washington Blade, 11/29/02, pp. 1, 22

HHS CHIEF WARNS FEDERALLY-FUNDED HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVISTS OF POSSIBLE AUDITS

"Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson didn’t beat around the bush when he sat down recently with representatives of several AIDS-advocacy groups."

‘When you take federal dollars and have a sex party or a gay stripper, you’re going to have audits. Maybe you should use other money to hire a stripper,’ Mr. Thompson advised a dozen AIDS activists at an Oct. 31 meeting at HHS headquarters in Washington."

"‘We have a great team here and we are passionate about this,’ Mr. Thompson said of federal efforts to combat AIDS. ‘Some of you are concerned about the commitment of the Bush administration to this issue.

Some of you think we’re more concerned about abstinence [than about HIV prevention].  ‘All we’re trying to do is to balance,’ the secretary said. ‘I think maybe more than some in the White House [believe] you have to have both [abstinence and condoms], especially with young African-American gays. Try everything.’

"Mr. Thompson assured the AIDS activists that ‘I am a pretty nice guy,’ and pointed out that when he was the Republican Wisconsin governor ‘I was the first to put money into prevention for HIV/AIDS, especially being a Republican.’

‘Now with the audits, you’ve got to realize that not everyone agrees with you and me in Congress. When you take federal dollars and have a sex party or a gay stripper you’re going to have audits.  Maybe you should use other money to hire a stripper. Audits are there to find out what’s working. I believe in audits.’ " Source: John McCaslin, Inside the Beltway, The Washington Times, 12/13/02, p. A8

PRESIDENT BUSH AFFIRMS PRO-HOMOSEXUAL, ANTI-BIBLICAL BELIEFS

Joseph Curl writes (Washington Times, 1/24/03, pp. 1, A14) that "A Christian activist chosen by the Bush administration for an AIDS advisory panel withdrew his name yesterday after White House rebuked his characterization of the disease as the ‘gay plague.’  "Jerry Thacker, a Pennsylvania marketing consultant who contracted the AIDS virus in 1986 after his wife was infected via a blood transfusion received during childbirth, was to be sworn in next week as a member of the Presidential Advisory Commission on HIV and AIDS. ..."

"Word of his withdrawal came after White House spokesman An Fleischer sternly chastised Mr. Thacker for his use of the phrase ‘gay plague.’

"‘The views that he holds are far, far removed from what the president believes,’ Mr. Fleischer said. ‘Those words are as wrong as they are inappropriate. And they are not shared by the president.

"‘The president’s view is totally the opposite of that. The president’s view is people with AIDS need to be treated with care, compassion, and that’s why his budet has provided so much money to help in the fight against AIDS.’

"Mr. Thacker had hoped to add a different perspective to that panel. A consultant living in Fleetwood, Pa., he wrote a book titled ‘When AIDS Comes Home,’ which his Internet Web site characterizes as ‘the story of a Christian family suddenly struck by the AIDS virus.’

"After contracting the AIDS virus from his wife, Sue (their 18-year-old daughter Sarah also has the disease), the Bob Jones University graduate founded the Scepter Institute to promote his workshops, books and videos on the topic of AIDS.

"His biography on the Scepter Web site (www.scepter.org/founder.asp) said: ‘Before 1986, Jerry Thacker was probably a lot like you. He had a beautiful family, a good church and a rewarding ministry. He knew vaguely about the "gay plague" known as AIDS, but it seemed a distant threat. AIDS was something that bad people had to worry about. Not Christians. Not the church.’..."

"On his Web site, Thacker describes discovering that his wife had contracted the AIDS virus during a blood transfusion in 1984 and subsequently infected him and their daughter," according to Ceci Connolly, The Washington Post, 1/24/03, p. A2

‘His brand of reactionary gay-bashing has no place in public policy and government,’ said Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, a Democratic presidential hopeful.

"Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle said, ‘His offensive public statements about homosexuality indicate a disturbing bias that is completely at odds with the role the advisory commission should play.’ " Source: Joseph Curl, The Washington Times, 1/24/03, pp. 1, A14

"Less than 12 hours earlier, one federal health official confirming Thacker’s appointment said his ‘very powerful and tragic story’ would enable him to reach out to particular constituencies....

"In his letter, Thacker said his reference to the ‘gay plague’ was in ‘describing the historical context’ of AIDS and was ‘taken out of context.’ He has also asked his alma mater, Bob Joes University, to remove summaries of his speeches from the school’s Web site ‘since they were not written by me but were filtered through the summary writer’s viewpoint. These also have been used to create impressions that are just not accurate.’

"The school’s accounts of his appearances in September 2001 describe two speeches on the ‘sin of homosexuality’ and his horror at the thought that some might have assumed his infection with the AIDS virus was the result of homosexual behavior..."

"Thacker, noting that AIDS will likely cause the death of four members of his family, promised in the letter to ‘continue our personal mission of reaching the conservative faith community to give them an accurate message about HIV/AIDS and how to avoid it.’
