2004 Presidential Election
We find ourselves, once again, considering just who should receive our vote? As a
Christian, what would please God? This web site has explored the possibilities in
the last presidential election (2000) and has considered what may occur if I, as a
Christian, chose to vote for the one candidate who best exemplifies God's values.
This has been explored in many pages here.
What would happen if I:
- voted for the candidate who theoretically could win (on the ballot in enough states) and
who puts God's values first?
- vote for a candidate who has theoretically 'no chance of winning' (despite being on the
ballot in >40 states) and who could possibly block the better candidate from the 2
established parties (Republican and Democrat)?
- willingly put God's values ahead of my own?
- followed the example of the founding fathers who did their duty to God and left the
results up to Him?
- choose the candidate who 'cannot win' but whose #1 issue is to end legalized abortion?
In a nutshell, we who claim to be "Christians" have become
"bondservants" of Christ. Therefore, in absolutely everything, He must
come first to please Him and to fulfill our role. As willing slaves to His Word,
that is what we have chosen in obedience to His direction. Therefore His values must
be paramount in our lives. They must always come first, whether or not they make
sense. This was true with Daniel, Christ Himself, Paul, and all the other great
people of the Bible. To do that is a test of our faith. Not faith that we will
necessarily win an election, rather that God is in control of the results and He will be
pleased with our witness to others, whatever the cost. However, if we choose to
compromise His values as laid out in the scriptures, we fail
Him.
This is not new. We had previous chances to vote in such a manner. Howard
Phillips of the Constitution Party was such a choice. Alan Keyes of the Republican
Party was another example. Our acceptance of the abortion holocaust must offend God
with many millions of babies sacrificed in the name of convenience. These men knew
that. We deserve God's judgment and the axe is at the root.
Let's look at the line up today.
President Bush- Republican Party
Sen. John Kerry- Democratic Party
Michael Peroutka- Constitution Party
Ralph Nader-Independent
David Keith Cobb- Green Party
Michael J. Badnarik- Libertarian Party
Ted C. Weill- Reform Party
Please seriously consider your vote as an important trust for which many have
sacrificed their lives. A vote is not something of insignificance. As
Christians, we are obligated to be the salt and the light, to be engaged within the lives
of others and to stand firm for God's values. Our founding fathers knew this.
Samuel Adams said: Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote
that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual--or at least that
he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human
society for which he is accountable to God and his country.
Read about the candidates from their web sites. Read sources to see if they do as
they say. From God's standpoint, the most important issues are those that He spelled
out as commandments and Biblical principles. The founding fathers had a great deal
of piety, reverence and were directed by God. Many held seminary degrees. We
can look to their wisdom.
How can Almighty God bless us when we fail to cry out about our own holocaust of
abortion? What about accepting the activist pro-homosexual agenda, civil unions and
homosexual marriage? What about stands for the persecuted church such as is
occurring in China and Sudan? What about equating the false religion of Islam with
the Jehovah God of the Bible? What about acceptance of judicial activism?
Wasn't the freedom of religion the main reason our forefathers came to this
land?
It is easy to see major failures of the majority of the candidates above. For
example, John Kerry votes for partial birth abortion, etc. No, Christianity is not
'personal'. According to Christ Himself, it is very public. Kerry's
endorsement of such a horrific act and absolute support of homosexual behavior makes him
antithetical to Christianity, no Christian can support such a candidate without risking
great danger of God's wrath on judgment day.
Our witness to others and obedience to God is exactly what Christ instructed us to
do. Remember, we are going to give an account to Almighty God for our
decisions and actions. The Green Party and Ralph Nader clearly place environmental
issues ahead of pleasing God. Libertarians have some conservative thoughts but
remove God from our government, one thing our founders warned about over and over
again.
So, once again, Christians have a choice between President George W. Bush and the
Constitution Party candidate, this time Michael Peroutka. So, now, ask yourself
which candidate should a Christian vote for who would please God the most? Given the
Biblical direction on the values He holds most important, who deserves a well-meaning
Christian's vote? Please take a look at both of their web sites and ask yourself
just how strongly do these candidates express the Christian values we claim to hold
foremost?

In their own words, the candidates make strong contrasts. President Bush
downplays the Christian 'issues', theoretically as part of wisdom so he could be elected
in this messed up society, although Christian 'leaders', once again, pretend he is the
best. Undoubtedly, there is no way a God fearing person could make the claim that
President Bush is more publicly committed to God's values than Michael Peroutka.
Even in the banner above, "GOD" is first!!!
Having dispensed of the simple question, now what should we do? As has been
explored throughout this site in the previous elections, and will be further explored this
time, do we vote for Bush since he can win and he is 'better that Kerry'? Or, should
we 'waste our vote' on Peroutka, who solidly speaks for Christian values, true
conservatism and constitutionality?
The simple answer is "Duty is ours; results are God's". We should not
worry about the outcome as long as we stand firm and God is on our side. The more
analytical answer is much deeper, as explored throughout this site. Do we fear the
justices that Kerry might appoint? Similar to the question with Gore vs. Bush, the
answer is found in clear cut if / then
logic from the scriptures. Similarly, we find we should not fear a Kerry presidency,
either. Republican literature thrives on our fear of the others. There is
Biblical direction, even for our time, we are wrong when we fear man.
Another more obvious consequence of well meaning Christians voting for Bush over Gore
last time was less obvious until shortly after he took office. Instead of helping
our nation turn toward righteousness, or even to tread water, his presidency has allowed
us to stoop to overwhelmingly lower levels. With Republicans in control in the White
House, the Senate and the House, what moral issue has been uplifted? None. Are
we any better on the moral front than 4 years ago? Of course not. And you want
to give him 4 more years to continue off the cliff?
Well, the partial birth abortion ban is
a misleading bill that has saved absolutely no babies who were to be aborted. This
is true partially though the immoral circuit court justices lining up to put out
'unconstitutional' restraining orders within minutes of the President's signature.
Further, the specific limitations of the bill would not outlaw late term abortions that
are somewhat similar. Senator Rick Santorum, the bill's sponsor, acknowledged this
as well. But, how many have heard this truth from the Congressional Record from
well-meaning pro-life organizations and Christian advocates?
The first thing President Bush did when he took office was to reinstate Reagan's "Mexico City Policy" to
remove federal government funding for abortions overseas. Within a day, it had been
neutered by the pro-abortion State Department and further comments by the President's
press spokesman. Again, no babies
saved.
After the horrific attack on September 11, 2001, with President Bush's blessing,
surviving homosexual 'partners' of the attack were deemed eligible for federal government
funds. He erroneously claimed that our God (Jehovah) was the same as the god of
Islam (a 'peaceful' religion). It is only peaceful if you don't take the scriptures
too serious.
In President Bush's position, he must tell the truth but tell it with love, to
exemplify God. He failed miserably and mislead people to consider Christianity and
Islam as equivalent religions. This is the pinnacle of Satanic deception as this
claim leads people away from true salvation through Jesus Christ. There is no way,
but with Christ, for salvation. President Bush had the breaking of the fast
celebration of Ramadan, the first time, ever, of such a pagan event at the White House.
Bush's 'Solomonic' (as claimed by a Christian 'leader') decision regarding his flawed
plan for embryonic stem cell research is
even more evidence he has compromised that which God abhors. He took an issue that
even President Bill Clinton had chosen not to touch since it was too much of a hot
potato. Unfortunately, as you can see, Bush's decision took us further down the
slope of immoral usage of embryos than we have ever gone, when he could have stayed the
course.
President Bush has worked to get pro-abortion Republican Senator
Arlen Specter reelected from Pennsylvania knowing that he is most likely going to
Chair the Senate Judiciary Committee when Sen. Orrin Hatch retires this election. As
hard as it has been for some nominees to be confirmed, you can bet the makeup of the
Supreme Court will not be enhanced with Specter in charge.
Vote for President Bush and we will continue to lose. Now is not a time for
lesser measures, we must stand firm if we are to escape God's wrath for our lack of
faith.
